Contship Italia is part of the largest European Container Terminal Operator (Eurokai - Hamburg).
On 2007, Contship Italia Group handled 6 million Teu (twenty equivalent unit) with a group turnover of 333 million € and over 2500 employees.

Intermodal transport services are offered through following subsidiaries: - Sogemar, Milan;
- Hannibal, Milan.
Intermodal transport companies are offering a wide range of daily rail connections between maritime terminals and main Italian and European markets (on 2007 over 300,000 TEU have been transported by the group intermodal companies thanks to over 3,400 operated block trains). Contship Italia Group is also offering value added logistic services like Container freight station, break bulk, equipment maintenance & repair, inland terminal management, Customs services and Groupage through specific companies directly controlled. Contship Italia Group is engaged in the development of sustainable logistics looking at quality of employee’s work environment and the territories where it operates. The use of rail transport as a business strategy contributed in saving around 300 millions kilos of Co2 emission in the 2004-2006 period. Furthermore, with regards to ports, we have heavily invested in technology and innovation in order to reduce dust substances in order to achieve peace between volume growth and environment at a “zero impact” balance. Thanks to our PORTO LAB project Contship Italia group meets over 6,000 students every year which are visiting our port facilities and intermodal hubs. As a real live experience they are experiencing contact with transport and port culture. The sea element reduces distances and the port becomes a modern crossroad between people, goods and cultures; an open sky laboratory.
